Fellow Pezhead,
We would like to personally invite you to the second annual Michigan Pez Convention, which will be held August 24-27, 2017.
In 2016, we introduced our mascot - a dapper man sporting a top hat. He was featured on 6 different colored dispensers, each representing something different - Early Registration, Charity, Convention, Exclusive / Dealer, Ultra Rare, and Prize. The highlight of these dispensers was their magnetic centerpiece, which allowed the centers to be swapped between the other stems.
This year, we are excited to introduce someone new – our mascot’s wife. This free-spirited hippie chick will also be featured on a series of 6 different dispensers in new shades. Not only will the 2017 dispensers have the same magnetic centerpieces as 2016, but they will also be interchangeable amongst all MIPEZCON dispensers from BOTH YEARS!
We had a great turnout for our first year and considered the event to be a great success, but that hasn’t stopped our ideas from flowing. While we plan to bring back many of the fun activities yet again for all to enjoy, such as the bean bag tournament, live auction, silent auction, swap party, and VIP dinner party, we are excited to announce some awesome changes to this year’s agenda:
The Michigan Pez Convention will again be held at the Embassy Suites located at 850 Tower Drive, Troy, Michigan 48098. The staff has been extremely accommodating. They enjoyed having us last year and are very excited for us to return.
This desirable venue offers the following features and amenities:
It takes both amazing dealers and attendees to create a successful event. Because of this, we have placed a strong focus on value to encourage strong attendance and to also help people budget as much of their money as possible towards what they came for - PEZ!
We have secured a room rate of $109.00/night plus tax!!! (King Room)
Aside from offering more spacious accommodations than a typical hotel room, these two-room suites also boast king-sized beds, microwave, refrigerator, and large picture window.
Additional tables are available in rooms upon request, if needed.
Room rates include a FREE breakfast buffet with omelet station each morning.
COMPLIMENTARY snacks and drinks are available each night from 5:30-7:30 pm.
Select convention events have been intentionally scheduled around these hours.
We are also proud to announce that we have continued our partnership with Christian-based Camp Lake Louise as the charity for our event. Last year, our amazing and generous friends in the Pez community at MIPEZCON raised an astonishing $6,000! These funds were used by the camp to support their scholarship program, providing a healthy and rewarding experience to underprivileged children that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to do.
Please direct any questions or concerns to Jim Blaine or visit mipezcon.com for more details.

- A new cohost – Our mascot isn’t the only one who got a wife this year - so did our host! Well, not actually. Jim and Jody have been married for 10 years this year, but after attending MIPEZCON in 2016, Jody felt the love and decided to really get involved.
- The Socks & Crocs Game Night Mix & Mingle – This Thursday night event will give everyone a chance to show off some crazy socks in their favorite pair of comfy Crocs while enjoying some fun games and craziness!
- The Bean Bag Tournament – Yes, this is a repeat from last year, but will be returning in a new format for 2017 with tournament times spread throughout the day on Friday to be less crowded for players.
- Junior Pez Convention (ages 5-14) - This will take place during various times throughout the weekend and will include age appropriate activities, games, prizes, pizza dinner party, and movie night with popcorn and pajamas.
- “Oh It’s That Kinda Party” party – We have some really fun ideas planned for this Saturday night event to end the weekend on a high note. This party will be a chance to cut loose, hangout, catch-up, relax, go wild, and enjoy one of the best parts of collecting Pez - each other! You won’t want to miss it!
- And, last but not least, our most exciting news of all – The Pez Mall – Since we have already outgrown the ballroom in our first year, it’s time to show the general public how we really do Pez conventions by room hopping! The hotel has the perfect setup for this with the dealer rooms being visible from almost every part of the open atrium. The general public will pay admission for access to the entire second floor. We feel that this will be a great improvement over last year in allowing dealers to enjoy more of the convention by only having to set up once for the weekend, giving the general public a true understanding of Pez conventions, and allowing everyone more room to hunt for Pez!
